Pain Management

Erkan has been in the fitness industry for more than 15 years. He is currently working for Six Senses Kaplankaya-Turkey, a Wellness Resort as the Director of Exercise Physiology. He's passionate about helping people function better holistically and is always looking at the big picture for his clients. He attended the world’s first osteopathic medical school, A. T. Still University, where he obtained his Master of Science in Human Movement. He works with athletes, individuals with muscle pain and imbalances, and individuals who are seeking permanent weight loss.

After dislocating his shoulder while playing sports, he tried to get treatment from various health professionals but didn't feel any better. That led him to investigate the connection between exercise and muscle function to find a way to prevent injuries and improve human performance. He searched for a new approach to wellness that filled the gaps between traditional Western medicine, physical therapy, chiropractic, and personal training, and soon became a practitioner of Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT).

While having a full schedule, he continues to pursue adjunct course work ranging from neurophysiology to biomechanics. He's a true believer that if we persevere we can constantly improve ourselves and helping people do that is his life's mission.

Training Style:

In order to restore proper balance to the musculature, weak muscles must first be re-activated. Muscle balance can be restored only by isolating the muscle and restoring the neural connection through the use of precision manual therapy and isometric exercising techniques. Erkan will guide you through a unique systematic approach that objectively evaluates the body, identifies weak or inhibited muscles, and then treats muscular imbalances that can come from or contribute to pain or injury. He'll also implement resistance training to prepare trainees for any physical contingency.

Philosophy:

Erkan takes a holistic approach to health and fitness. He's like a detective when it comes to uncovering the root cause of physical ailments and deficiencies. He won't just treat a symptom, he'll look at the big picture to improve a client's total fitness. Erkan's initial goal is to discern whether or not a muscle has the appropriate neurological input necessary to perform its intended function. Lacking proper proprioceptive input, a muscle cannot execute its expected role, which leads the muscle to positions of vulnerability. He'll uncover where the body is hiding these weaknesses, and then endeavor to improve joint stability and mobility. Then he'll design an individualized plan to help you achieve your goals.
